Couple Injured in Warren House Explosion

Two injured after explosion levels home

A house blew up and burned in Warren last night, injuring the couple inside. Warren Township Fire Lieutenant Michael Gregory says the house was leveled by the time fire trucks arrived. He says authorities haven't determined what caused the explosion. Robert B. Smith was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, then transferred by helicopter to the MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. A woman, identified only as Michele, also was sent to Cleveland for treatment. Their conditions were not available immediately. Gregory said the couple had second-degree burns. Neighbor Tom Lelesch said the walls of the home were already blown out when he ran out of his house.
