Homeowners from two evacuated communities on an Arizona mountain will get a look today at some areas charred by wildfires. Residents have been blocked from returning to about 100 summer homes on Mount Graham, which has been threatened by blazes that began in late June. Some plan to tour the mountain today and report back to their neighbors. Fire officials don't know when the residents will be allowed back to the villages of Turkey Flat and Columbine. The fires are also threatening an observatory that is home to some of the world's most advanced telescopes. Fire officials say steep terrain has been causing problems for crews battling the blazes.
