National PTA provides resources for coping with school violence

(FOX19) - The National PTA released a statement on Friday, following the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in Newtown, CT.

National PTA President, Betsy Landers, released this statement:

"National PTA feels enormous sympathy for the students, families and communities affected by the horrendous tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., today.  Our country has experienced far too many of these tragedies, and we all share in the sense of loss and hurt".

The PTA said one its main principles is school and child safety, and is crucial to effective learning.

The non-profit association said it's important for people affected by traumatic events to connect and support one another.
