CLIFTON, OH (FOX19) - The University of Cincinnati held commencement ceremonies on Saturday for summer and fall graduates at Fifth Third Arena.
The ceremony included individual recognition of master's, baccalaureate and associate degree candidates.
The ceremony honored Larry Sheakley. Sheakley is CEO of the Sheakley Group and a benefactor to the Cincinnati community and the UC Bearcats. He received an honorary doctorate of Commercial Science.
U.S. Senator Rob Portman was the commencement speaker.
UC's Office of Institutional Research reports that 3,539 students applied for graduation over the summer and fall. This number is up 35 percent from last year.
Total degree applications include 449 associate degrees, 1,557 baccalaureate degrees, 1,352 master's degrees and 210 doctoral or professional degrees.
