NRA releases statement following Sandy Hook school shooting

FOX19 - The National Rifle Association of America released a statement on Tuesday, following the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in Connecticut last Friday.

"The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown".

In addition, 'out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency', the NRA said it wanted a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The association said they are prepared to offer 'meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again'.

A press conference by the NRA is scheduled for Friday in Washington D.C.
