Pomeranian's barks alerts neighbor to fire
Several people may owe their lives to an alert dog. The barks of a ten-year-old Pomeranian named Foxy woke up Paul Conklin early yesterday morning as a fire was sweeping through his neighbors' apartment in western New York. He called 911. Firefighters arrived soon after and managed to rescue four people who were trapped inside -- a woman, her two children and a disabled person. The woman and children jumped from a second-story window into the arms of firefighters and police. That's not all. In the glow of the fire, Conklin spotted the man who allegedly set the fire. Police arrested the suspect a short time later and charged him with arson and burglary.
