Corrections officers arrested for involvement in jail beating

Six corrections officers were arrested and accused of taking part in the beating of an inmate at the Mahoning County jail. The roundup of three former and three current officers concluded yesterday. The six will have appearances in US District Court in Youngstown. Charges are conspiracy and depriving civil rights. The case involves former inmate 25-year-old Tawhon Easterly of Youngstown, who was beaten during December 2001 after he struck Deputy Christina Kachaylo.
