A former police officer is accused of stalking a former co-worker.
Jerry Heidel, 66, is charged with menacing by stalking and breaking and entering stemming from an incident at the Women Helping Women office on Oct. 9.
Heidel is accused of breaking into the office and trashing the personal office of a longtime employee. He was charged on Nov. 19.
His charges carry a maximum prison sentence of 2.5 years.
After retiring from the Cincinnati PD, Heidel worked for Women Helping Women as a law enforcement liaison who assisted women that fell victim to stalking, domestic violence and sexual assault.
Heidel was originally placed on a $200 bond under the circumstances that he wear a tracking device that would notify his alleged victim and authorities if he came near her.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Anita Vizedom presented evidence in a hearing on Dec. 17, stating that Heidel has violated the "exclusion zone" of the women he is accused of stalking. Judge Pat DeWine then raised Heidel's bond to $100,000.
