FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - A Cincinnati Bengals player was arrested on Friday, just one day before the first round of playoffs against the Houston Texans.

Police said Robert Sands, a safety currently on the injured list, was arrested in Florence for reportedly assaulting his wife at their home. It happened around 11 a.m.

According to authorities, Sands' wife was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

He was arrested and charged with assault in the fourth degree, stemming from the domestic violence with his wife. He was taken to the Boone County Jail in Burlington and later released.

Sands is currently on the injured/reserve list due to a chest injury he suffered against Atlanta on August 16th.
