BOWLING GREEN, KY (WAVE) – The son of a senator is facing charges related to alcohol.

Saturday, police in North Carolina arrested Republican Kentucky Senator Rand Paul's son, William Paul, 19, at an airport.

Moria Bagley, the communications director for Senator Paul, released a statement saying, "Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena, however, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this."

According to a police report, William Paul is charged with disorderly conduct, being  intoxicated and disruptive and consuming beer/wine underage.
