CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Project Nehemiah Ceasefire, the North Fairmont community, Faith-based leaders, and other community partners and leaders held their second gun buy back program on Tuesday.

More than 25 guns were collected at the event, part of the Ceasefire Stop the Violence campaign at the Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church.

The campaign was established as one of many efforts to combat and address gun violence in the city of Cincinnati.

"If we can save one life, if we can stop one act of violence, if we can get a gun out of one person's hands, we have made progress in the fight to end the violence in our communities," said Pastor Ennis F. Tait, executive director of Project Nehemiah. "Despite the varying opinions on the success of gun buy-back events, the recent tragedies throughout this country and in our communities remind us that the only way to move toward change, is to move. We are determined to move toward that change through the power of a God who knows and sees all."

The series of events throughout the city are designed to encourage individuals to bring in operable guns from their homes and neighborhoods in exchange for $100 gift cards (Wal-Mart, Target, Kroger and Meijer).

The cards are purchased with donations from concerned individuals, private donor organizations and corporations throughout the area.

The first gun buyback was held on Jan. 15. The third event is planned for March 29th.
