University Shooting

The prosecutor working on the case of a man charged with fatally shooting a student at Case Western Reserve University last year has asked the judge to step down.

The Plain Dealer reports that Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason wrote a letter last week to Common Pleash two guns, shooting graduate student Norman Wallace and injuring two others. Koch will decide soon whether Halder is mentally competent for trial. Mason says Koch has made up her mind before reviewing evidence and hearing arguments. Mason says Koch has called Halder "crazy" and dismissed one psychiatrist's opinion that the defendant is fit for trial.
