Taking Care of the Dead

Volunteers clean up neglected Cincinnati cemetery.

Volunteers are helping to clean up a neglected cemetery in Cincinnati. About 30 volunteers turned out yesterday to cut grass and weeds and collect fallen tree branches at the Wesleyan Cemetery. The 25-acre graveyard has become overgrown since its former trustee went to prison for stealing 93,000 dollars from the cemetery's maintenance fund. About 26,000 people have been buried in Wesleyan Cemetery since the 1800s -- including about 17-hundred military veterans. The cemetery's fate may be decided in December when a judge in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court hears a lawsuit by Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro to remove the cemetery's trustee
