Final Pretrial Hearings Begin

Final pretrial hearings begin in Kobe Bryant case

Kobe Bryant has arrived in a Colorado court for hearings that could greatly affect his upcoming rape trial. Behind closed doors, the judge will hear arguments on whether the alleged victim's cell-phone text messages can be used as evidence in the case. The NBA star and his lawyers are also awaiting a decision on whether the young woman's sexual history can be used against her. Other outstanding issues include whether cameras will be allowed in the courtroom during trial and whether court filings can be posted on the Internet. Bryant has pleaded innocent to felony sexual assault. He says the-then 19-year-old woman agreed to a sexual encounter. Jury selection is less than six weeks away.
