VERONA, KY (FOX19) -

A driver was taken to the hospital after a two car crash involving a dump truck on Monday afternoon.

It happened just before 3:30 p.m. in the 15,000 block of U.S. 42, near South Fork Church Road in Verona, Ky.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says a 2008 Toyota Yaris driven by Jerry Alexander, 22, of Warsaw, was southbound on U.S.-42 when it collided with a Northbound Mack dump truck driven by Michael Utz, 51, of Burlington.

Alexander was ejected from the car.  He was flown to University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio by PHI with reported life-threatening injuries.

Initial indicators are that the Yaris traveled left-of-center however the Boone County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Unit was called out and is investigating the collision.
