The driver of a car involved in a fatal pedestrian accident has pleaded not guilty to charges. Zachary Costas, 18, was in court this morning and pleaded not guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene. He also has a suspended driver's license. He is being held on $150,000 bond.
Cincinnati police had to close Glenway Avenue for more than 5 hours after the accident Monday evening around five o'clock. The victim, 30-year-old Gloria Valles, was hit by what witnesses describe as a driver who was racing with another car. FOX19 is being told the victim was still alive at the scene but was pronounced dead at University Hospital Medical Center.
Witnesses say the drivers of the racing cars stopped about a block past the point of impact, appeared to discuss what to do next, and then they took off.
Residents who live in the neighborhood say street racing is a problem there in the 5600 Block of Glenway.
