LOVELAND, OH (FOX19) -

A Tri-State high school band program got a rare treat on Thursday night, when they welcomed the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) to their school.

The Loveland community enjoyed a concert from the world renowned orchestra, as part of a community outreach program.

The best part: Band students at Loveland High School got to play alongside a mentor from the CSO.

Loveland student, Chase Grafflin revealed, "It's really cool to be playing with them because I've always looked up to them because they're a professional orchestra."

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra views opportunities like this as a chance to give back to the community.

William White, the assistant conductor for CSO said, "The orchestra plays a concert, but in addition to that, the house band, the Loveland High School string program will play with coaches from the CSO."

When it was finally time to take the stage, students expressed what it felt like to play alongside a world class orchestra.

"It was like being with a celebrity to me. I mean, getting to hear them and work with them and everything they had to say," said Meredith Montalbano.

The professional musicians also offered advice to any student who may want to make their career in music.

"It's all about the passion for music, you know, it has to come from the heart, and if they've got the passion then they will dedicate themselves but its not an easy road," said White.

The orchestra also visited Hamilton High School on Friday.

The CSO also hopes to plan more visits like these in the future.
