National Association of Professional Women Chesapeake, VA Chapter wrapped up 2012 by celebrating the holiday season and making plans for 2013 at its November and December networking events.
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) January 22, 2013
Members and guests of the NAPW Chesapeake, VA Local Chapter gathered for the last two professional networking meetings of the year. During the holiday celebration on December 27th, the group of professional women discussed supporting Veterans’ programs such as Wounded Warriors in 2013. At the November 29th event, members and guests enjoyed dinner, networked, and learned more about NAPW’s National Seminars Group/Star12 educational program.
NAPW Chesapeake Local Chapter President Cheryl Davis welcomed attendees to the December holiday dinner meeting that was held at the Olive Garden at Greenbrier in Chesapeake. In addition to celebrating the season, members and guests took time to conduct a brief business meeting to make plans for Chapter events and undertakings in 2013. A discussion about the Chapter’s charitable endeavors in the coming year included mention of several local and national children’s and female health-related charities.
“We decided to focus on our military Veterans and explore the available Veterans’ programs, possibly focusing on the Wounded Warriors program as the target of our 2013 efforts,” said the Chapter President.
Chesapeake Chapter members Francine Tevis, currently in transition from military to a private sector career and Marlo Calloway, Teacher and Professional Mentor, have agreed to solicit and interview potential speakers to invite to the February networking meeting to review Veterans’ program options available to the Chesapeake Local Chapter.
The Chapter’s November meeting was held at the Indian River Public Library, where members and guests held a roundtable discussion while enjoyed pizza, a vegetable tray, and dessert.
“I know it’s the start of the holiday season and everyone is busy, but I believe it is important to keep the Chapter’s momentum high,” the President told the group of professional women.
Members and guests exchanged professional and personal information with each other and discussed their expectations for the Chesapeake Chapter in 2013.
At the completion of dinner and networking, Cheryl facilitated a presentation of several Quick Tips available through NAPW’s National Seminars Group/Star12 educational program found on the NAPW website to educate attendees on the wealth of information available to NAPW members.
“Each Quick Tip was followed by a group discussion to determine how best to utilize the information provided for professional growth,” said Cheryl. “Members and guests had the opportunity to see this very important resource that is available to NAPW members. It was a very productive meeting.”
