Frontier to offer non-stop flights to Denver from CVG

HEBRON, KY (FOX19) -

Officials revealed a new airline is coming to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

On Monday, Frontier Airlines announced a non-stop service from CVG to Denver International Airport (DEN), beginning on May 17. The new service with connections will also offer 19 destinations for travelers beyond Denver.

"We are proud to offer this additional nonstop connection to Denver and the west coast for our business and leisure passengers in the region," says Candace S. McGraw, chief executive officer of CVG.

From CVG - DEN: Departs 6:15 a.m., Arrives 7:15 a.m. - Daily except Sundays

From DEN to CVG: Departs 6:59 p.m., Arrives 11:35 p.m. - Daily except Saturdays

To celebrate the new service, Frontier announced fares will be offered at $99 each way, available through Feb. 2 at www.flyfrontier.com.

An added bonus: The flights will offer 30 channels of DIRECTV service at every seat.

CVG leaders recently outlined plans for 2011 and the next five years as its 1974 agreements with Delta and other airlines expire in 2015.

Norwalk, Conn.-based Southern Air is relocating its headquarters to the Queen City.  The cargo carrier is moving and slashing 120 jobs for "strategic and financial reasons," CEO Dan McHugh said in an email to employees, some of whom will be given the option to relocate.

CVG airport is Southern Air's largest hub of activity and also a global hub for DHL Express, its largest customer, McHugh said in the note.

The move is expected to be complete by April.
