NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two firearms were confiscated in separate incidents at the Nashville International Airport over the weekend, according to the Transportation Security Administration.

The TSA discovered the firearms at the checkpoint before passengers are allowed to go to their departure gates.

An unloaded 9 mm pistol was discovered at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in a passenger's carry-on bag along with a full magazine. The traveler was cited.

An unloaded .38-caliber pistol was found at 9:50 a.m. Sunday in a passenger's carry-on bag along with two rounds of ammunition. That traveler was also cited.

Last year, 1,548 firearms were discovered at TSA checkpoints nationwide, including 33 at Nashville International Airport.

Six guns have been confiscated at the Nashville airport in 2013, according to the TSA.
