Detainee Family Sues Government

Family sues government on behalf of son held in Saudi Arabia.

The parents of an American detained without charges in Saudi Arabia are suing the US government. Lawyers say it's the first lawsuit filed on behalf of an American citizen detained in a third country at the request of the US government. The family is citing recent Supreme Court rulings outlining legal rights of citizens and non-citizens held in the war on terrorism. Ahmed Abu Ali was arrested more than a year ago as part of an anti-terrorism investigation. The family says the US government has refused to say when or if he'll be charged or released. Family lawyers are attempting to get an American judge to order Abu Ali returned to the United States where he could face charges as part of an alleged terrorism training ring in Virginia
