Police: "Horrific" deaths
An apparent murder-suicide in Michigan is being described as "horrific." Authorities say a Saint Clair Shores woman who was honored this spring as a local teacher of the year killed her five-week-old daughter before killing herself. They say Mary Ellen Moffitt suffered from postpartum depression -- the type of depression that can accompany childbirth. Moffitt's husband found the bodies Monday at their home. Both appeared to have been asphyxiated. Mary Ellen Moffitt was a first-grade teacher who had been undergoing treatment for depression. Police are waiting for the autopsy reports.
