A collision between a train and a semi blocked a Skamania County highway Thursday.

The crash happened at 12:45 p.m. on State Route 14 at Milepost 55, near Dog Mountain, about 35 miles east of Washougal.

Fox 12 viewer Miguel Reyes sent photos and video from the scene showing the semi on its side and a large piece of the trailer ripped apart.

Investigators said the truck driver, Rasul Tedorov, 39, was adjusting his electronic navigational aid and ran off the south side of the roadway. The semi traveled over the top of a rock retaining wall and fell around 10 feet onto the passenger side on the railroad tracks.

The driver was then attempting to locate his cell phone, according to troopers, when the truck was hit by a freight train.

The only cargo on the train was lumber. The semi suffered a ruptured fuel tank, but none of it got into the river.

Nobody was hurt in the crash.

Crews were at the scene for hours clearing up debris and rocks from the trailer and a retaining wall. Traffic got by with flaggers directing drivers into one lane.
