PIKE CO, IN (WFIE) -
Around noon on Friday, a convicted sex offender was forced to publicly wear his newest crime on a sign around his neck.
27-year-old Larry T. Bass, of Petersburg, Indiana, was sentenced to wear a sandwich-style fluorescent sign reading "Registered Sex Offender Who Bought Alcohol for Kids" on the public sidewalk in front of the Pike County Courthouse from Noon until 1 pm (EST) on Friday.
According to his agreement with the court, he plead guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor, after purchasing alcohol for a fourteen year-old child.
In May of 2010, Bass was convicted of Child Molesting, a class "C" felony in the Pike Circuit Court and sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections.
After his release from prison, Bass was arrested for buying juveniles vodka in September 2012. At the time of his arrest he was serving an additional two year term of probation.
After his appearance in front of the courthouse Friday, Bass will report to the Wabash Valley Work Release facility in Vincennes, Indiana where he will serve an additional eight hundred and twenty-three day sentence.
By the way, inmates committed to Wabash Valley are required to pay for the cost of their incarceration.
