Findlay Market Celebrates Mardi Gras

OVER THE RHINE, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnatians are celebrating Mardi Gras a few days early at Findlay Market.

The 9th annual Mardi Gras at the Market was held Sunday afternoon in Over-the-Rhine.

Visitors enjoyed a festive and family-friendly atmosphere.

Merchants decorated their stands for Mardi Gras competing against each other in the Merchant Spirit contest. Merchants were judged on their stand's decorations, costumes, food and spirit. A panel of celebrity judges awarded the winner a trophy and a cash prize.

The Mardi Gras King and Queen were also crowned at the event. Steve Hampton and Joy Pierson were crowned and lead shoppers and revelers on a parade though Market Square.

Visitors enjoyed freshly cooked Cajun foods at the event. Many enjoyed free samples of a traditional low country crawfish boil. Seasoned and boiled catfish were also available to try.
