A convicted sex offender from Ohio who fled that state
without properly notifying authorities has been arrested in Carroll County.
Stanley S. Snow, II, 29, 1452 Goose Creek Road, Worthville,
was sought for nearly the entire day on January 30, 2013 by the U.S. Marshal
Service and Carroll County Sheriff's Office. The U.S. Marshal Service received
a tip that Snow was in Carroll County and requested the sheriff's office assist
in locating Snow.
"We got a tip from Ohio, where he was wanted," said Loren
"Squirrel" Carl, the U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
Carl said Snow failed to notify authorities in Ohio that he was moving and
did not register as a sex offender after moving to Kentucky.
"When he crossed
state lines it became a violation of the Adam Walsh Act, which is a federal
offense," he said.
Snow attempted to hide from the authorities during the day
on Jan. 30. However, they were finally able to locate him and take him into
custody at approximately 2 p.m.
Snow moved to Carroll County to be with his girlfriend.
In Ohio, Snow was charged in December 2004 for having sexual
intercourse with a 15-year-old girl. He plead guilty to attempted unlawful
sexual contact with a minor and was classified as a sex offender, which
requires him to register with the proper state agencies. Warrants were issued
for him from Cuyahoga County, Ohio in January and November 2012 for failure to
notify of address change and failure to verify address.
After he was arrested in Carroll County, Snow was charged
with failure to comply with sex offender registry first offense and sex
offender IM/chat/social network use. The warrants from Ohio were also served on
him and he was lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.
