DENVER (AP) -
A Mesa man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Durango, CO, on charges of wire fraud and income tax evasion.
Brian K. Shoults, of Mesa, is free on a $50,000 unsecured bond.
An indictment alleges Shoults tried to embezzle more than $250,000 from Office Outpost in Cortez, CO, when he was its bookkeeper.
It alleges he wired money from Office Outpost accounts into his own and failed to pay income taxes on that money. Shoults had sole responsibility for reconciling the shop's bank accounts with its internal records.
Federal prosecutors say Shoults is charged with 123 counts of wire fraud and four counts of income tax evasion.
