Families: Search For Missing Woman 'Unnecessary'

No immediate search plans for missing Utah woman

Police in Salt Lake City are keeping a tight lid on information about the disappearance of Lori Hacking. The pregnant 27-year old woman was reported missing two weeks ago by her husband, whose credibility has since crumbled. He had lied about plans to attend medical school -- despite never graduating from college. Police say they will be resuming a search at a municipal landfill, but that effort will have to wait until later in the week when specially-trained tracking dogs are available.

The couple's families issued a statement Saturday that volunteer searchers are no longer needed, based on something revealed by a hospitalized Mark Hacking.

Neither the families, nor the police, will say what new information they've learned. Hacking, who is in a psychiatric ward, has not been charged.
