IRVING, Texas, Feb. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cash Store, a Texas based consumer financial services provider, announced today that it is an Iron Spur Sponsor for the 26th annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run on Sat., Feb. 23, 2013 in Houston, Texas. All race entry fees will be donated to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Educational Fund, which awards college scholarships to high school students in Texas.
More than 20,000 participants are expected to turn out for the 5K and 10K races, which kick off the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo parade. Last year's event attracted 15,000 participants and raised a record-breaking $400,000 for college scholarships. This year's event will also feature a costume contest, a post-race party, and an awards ceremony.
"Cash Store is excited to partner with the ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run and its efforts to help high school students advance their education," said CEO Trevor Ahlberg. "These young students represent the future of our Nation and we are proud to support them in achieving their goals."
The 10K is a competitive timed race that begins at 9:20 a.m. The family friendly 5K non-competitive walk/run race begins at 9:45 a.m. Both races will start in the heart of downtown Houston at the intersection of Walker and Bagby Streets. The route will continue along Allen Parkway.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the world's largest livestock show and rodeo that is devoted to helping youth, supporting education, and facilitating better agricultural practices through exhibitions and presentation.
