LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A uniquely Vegas attraction offers people the chance to be at the controls of bulldozers and excavators just like you were on a construction site doing a real job.
Dig This offers tourists and locals alike the chance to play "bucket basketball," push gigantic tires, or just move tons of Earth around in their five-acre playground.
While you're in total control, you're also highly trained and supervised. Each customer must go through a safety orientation and take a breathalyzer test. And once you're in the driver's seat you still have your instructor talking you through every step of the way.
Owner Ed Mumm came up with the idea while renovating his house in Colorado. He had such a great time doing his own excavation he figured other people would also enjoy being at the controls too. That's when he started Dig This in Steamboat Springs, CO, back in 2007. Mumm launched the Vegas location at 3012 S. Rancho Drive in May of 2011 not far from the Vegas Strip.
Mumm says people can't stop smiling once they get out of the cabin of their machine.
"They get out and they're smiling from ear to ear. The wow factor is amazing. You can see it in their face," he said.
Digs start at $249 for bulldozing or excavating and they also offer group rates and some package deals with other Strip businesses. Participants must be 14 years old as well.
