A former beauty queen accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend has pleaded innocent to the charges. Sharron Redmond faces life in prison if she's found guilty. A grand jury in Georgia indicted her back in April for the death of Kevin Shorter. He was killed in December after a confrontation with Redmond outside the home of his fiancee. Redmond's attorney says he's confident a jury will find that she was in fear for her life and acted in self defense. Her lawyer says she fired at Shorter's car intending to frighten him, but the bullet ricocheted and struck him. Redmond is a former Miss Savannah. This year's contest has been called off because of the publicity surrounding the case. A trial date has not yet been set.
