Hacking Confessed To His Two Older Brothers

DA gets extension to file formal murder charges against Mark Hacking

The district attorney has been granted an extension until Monday to file murder charges in the case of a missing Utah woman. Today was the deadline for filing formal charges.

Meantime, Mark Hacking's father says his son has confessed to his two older brothers that he killed his wife as she slept and then put the body in a trash bin. Douglas Hacking tells The Associated Press that Mark felt compelled to confess after he was confronted with evidence that he had something to do with his wife's disappearance.

The family says Mark opened up July 24th -- five days after Lori Hacking went missing. He's been held at the Salt Lake County jail since Monday on suspicion of murdering his wife.
