Police believe that
alcohol and speed were factors in a four-vehicle accident in Monroe.
The accident occurred just
after 9 p.m Saturday night.
According to reports,
David Thomas of Middletown was traveling eastbound in a westbound lane on State
Route 63 near the I-75 merger.
Thomas struck a westbound vehicle
trying to merge onto interstate 75. After the initial crash, Thomas' vehicle
hit another car head-on causing that vehicle to hit a vehicle behind it.
Police say that Thomas was
traveling at high speeds when the accident occurred.
Two people were taken to
Atrium Hospital and were treated with minor injuries.
Thomas was arrested for
suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while impaired. He has been charged with
OVI and numerous traffic violations.
Thomas is expected to be
arraigned on Monday.
