GOODYEAR, AZ (FOX19) - Reds first baseman Joey Votto will play in the World Baseball Classic, the Reds announced Monday.
Votto, who missed more than 40 games last season after injuring his knee, had said he wasn't sure he would play in order to ease back into baseball this spring.
Votto will play for his home country, Canada, but won't have to travel far from the Reds spring training complex in Goodyear because team Canada is playing its games in Phoenix.
Votto is hitting .375 this spring with a home run.
