CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A Hartwell nursing home is set to shut down this summer.
According to a notice filed with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Mercy Franciscan Terrace will shut down later this year.
Over the past several months, Mercy Health's parent
organization Catholic Health Partners and the Franciscan Sisters of the
Poor have been evaluating the future of Mercy Franciscan Terrace, a senior
health and housing facility located on the campus of the Sisters' Mother House
in Springfield Township.
In a statement, Mercy Health said, "further investment in the Mercy Franciscan
Terrace physical plant is prohibitive, based on our assessment of immediate and
future capital outlay needs."
Mercy Health says they are helping the current resident plan for their transition into other senior facilities.
The nursing home employs 165 people.
