SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A family's cat was finally rescued after being stuck in a pine tree in Pooler for nearly eight days.

The Pooler Fire Dept. was called out twice - they came out on Friday, and then Sunday, but they just couldn't position their truck for their safety due to the power lines.

Then the height proved too much for Georgia Power's first truck that arrived to help get the cat.

Leigh Donovan holds her family pet named Puss a little closer now.

"We had kind of lost hope," she said.

The cat was nearly rescued on Sunday night, but Pooler firefighters came out but just couldn't position their trucks for safety.

Georgia power came out on Monday morning with a bucket truck. Unfortunately, the truck didn't reach high or far enough. A third truck was brought out. Georgia Power crews cut limbs along the way - slowly inching toward Puss.

"I'm very relieved. My son is going to be so happy. He's been in tears," Donovan said.

Some water lines were broken underneath the road, some say it was worth the trouble. Garden Acres Utilities fixed the broken water main in less than an hour. No one said they were inconvenienced.

"Well, I mean, it's somebody's pet so, you would want it done for your cat," said Joey Curcurullo, of Gardens Acres Utilities.

A Georgia Power worker brought food up with him to lure the cat down. It took about an hour for the feline to come down.
