Pregnant Tri-State Coach Dies

A middle school coach and teacher pregnant with twins dies

A middle school soccer coach and teacher pregnant with twin boys died suddenly as the result of a rare form of acute leukemia that no one knew she had.

Thirty-one-year-old Christy Dennis of Fairfield fell ill during soccer practice Monday morning at Fairfield Middle School, where she also taught eighth-grade math. An assistant coach drove her home. Her husband called an ambulance when she became unresponsive. The ambulance took Dennis to Mercy Hospital Fairfield and she was later flown to University Hospital in Cincinnati. Doctors there discovered that she suffered from an acute leukemia that had sparked massive bleeding in her brain.

The mother of a three-year-old girl died Monday night along with her unborn babies. Chad Dennis broke the news of his wife's death to the junior varsity girls soccer team yesterday on the couple's eighth wedding anniversary.
