The Lower Price Hill Community School and
BLOC Ministries partner to breathe new life into St. Michael's Complex.
St.
Michael's Church is the second oldest Catholic church standing in Cincinnati.
While the church building is no longer used as a house of worship,
community leaders hope to turn it into a sanctuary for at risk children, teens
and adults.
Once the renovation is complete the sanctuary will be turned
into a community gathering spacing and performing arts venue. Five
buildings make up the St. Michael's complex The surrounding buildings
will be used to house a women's rescue center and safe house, School and artist
studios.
"The renovation of St. Michael's is exciting because it's
the next important step in an ongoing neighborhood revival that's been years in
the making," said Jerry Mass, an executive with JTM Food Group
LPHCS and BLOC need to raise 2.2 million dollars to make the
project shovel ready by June. The project has already received 5.4 million in
historical tax credit.
