BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Fast-paced, up-tempo, constant chatter are all ways to describe the first day of spring practice for LSU Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron and his new offense.
The former NFL assistant of the Super Bowl champion Ravens clearly very vocal with senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger and the rest of the Tigers offense, insisting they move faster, snap the ball quicker and push themselves harder on the first of fifteen days to get ready for next season.
For the 30 minutes the media was allowed to watch practice, head coach Les Miles was clearly not going to share the stage with the man he brought in to upgrade an offense that will be expected to carry the load in 2013, with so many veteran defenders defecting early for the NFL.
John Chavis was also very vocal with his defense, trying to set the tone with his young players, about how to practice correctly. Defensive tackle Anthony "Freak" Johnson was also showing he is ready to assume some of that leadership role sure to fall on his shoulders, with the departure of Sam Montgomery, Keke Mingo, Benny Logan and others along the defensive front.
LSU players Mettenberger, Johnson, Jeremy Hill and Jarvis Landry are among the players WAFB interviewed after practice for their impressions of the Tigers' first day of spring practice.
