GOODYEAR, AZ (CBS5) -

An injured and disoriented man was discovered on the side of the road with his loyal dog unwilling to leave his side early Thursday morning.

A Goodyear Police Officer discovered a pickup truck parked on the south end of the Cotton Lane Bridge. The truck was registered and not reported stolen however a quick search of the area uncovered a disoriented man in his early 20s, face down in the dirt alongside the bridge.

The man's dog was at his side, unwilling to leave his master.

The man was transported to the hospital where it was revealed that his back had been broken in two places.

It is believed that he either fell off the bridge or down the large hill to the south end near where his truck was parked.

At this time Goodyear police suspect no foul play in this incident.

The dog and the vehicle were turned over to family members who live in the Phoenix area.
