Thankful mother holds fundraiser for Crimestoppers

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

After having her son's killer brought to justice, a mother is holding a fundraiser for Crimestoppers.

A fish and Chicken fry was held on Saturday in an effort to give back to an organization that has helped Carolyn Turnbull cope with a terrible loss.

Carolyn's son, Rodney Turnbull, was murdered on March 27, 2006.

It took some time, but Crimestoppers helped bring Rodney's killer to justice. For this, Carolyn is thankful.

"We're having a fish fry, chicken fried dinners to sell," said Carolyn. "The donation if five dollars with all the proceeds going to Crimestoppers."

Carolyn held a similar fundraiser last year raising nearly $1,000. However, it's about more than just the money for Carolyn.

"Doing this helps me heal also by helping other people and keeping my son's memory alive."

The community was eager to help out. During the six hours of the fundraiser, more than 100 chicken and fish dinners were sold raising hundreds of dollars for a worthy cause.

"They can make a change with their donations going to crimestoppers," explained Carolyn. "They also are helping the community in making a change and get some of these criminals off the street."
