HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A Hamilton man was shot and killed inside his business on Saturday evening.
Authorities responded to reports of a man being shot at a body shop in the 1100 block of Central Avenue. Police received reports of the shooting just after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
Upon arrival, officers found one man deceased at MKM McGhee's Kustom Motors.
Police have identified the victim as Broderick McGhee, a 35-year-old man from Hamilton and owner of the shop.
Ken McGhee, Broderick's brother, was with Broderick when the incident occurred.
"I was standing right there and all of the sudden I hear pop, pop and I hear pop," explains Ken. "I'm thinking something's thrown like a rock through the window then I hear two more shots. But by the time the second shot rang out I knew what it was."
A sudden burst of gunfire aimed at the MKM Body Shop killed Ken's brother. A bullet struck Broderick as he was sitting at his desk inside.
"I walked over to him and seen that he wasn't moving," recounts Ken. "He was just laying there and I got up a little closer and I didn't see no chest, I didn't see no compressions and by then I just got hysterical, man."
Ken McGhee is still trying to process the loss of his brother who he says was an asset to the community.
"He was a good guy, man," said friend of the family, Lydell Green. "I believe everybody enjoyed him. I believe he was an inspiration to this community and made a difference with the youth."
Friends and family of McGhee remember his as a good man who was motivated to succeed.
McGhee had some scrapes with the law earlier in his life. However, all of that changed when McGhee opened an auto body shop in Hamilton.
Broderick McGhee, who went by the nickname M-Way, built a reputation for top-notch body work and custom painting on cars and motorcycles.
Hamilton police have released little information on Broderick McGhee's shooting but are asking for help tracking down McGhee's killer and the motive for the shooting.
