Host families needed for Cincinnati sister city

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory announced Monday that he is calling on residents to become host families for 27 high school students from the city's sister city, New Taipei City, Taiwan.

The students from Taiwan will be attending Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) and will shadow local students from April 7 - May 4.

"This is a unique opportunity for the City of Cincinnati and CPS.  We look forward to strengthening our partnership with our sister city New Taipei City and allowing young people to be a part of this cross-cultural exchange," said Mayor Mallory.  "As a continuation of the spirit of the World Choir Games, I'm asking Cincinnatians to once again open their doors to the international community."

Those interested in becoming a host family should contact Patty Young in the CPS Superintendent's Office as soon as possible at, or call at (513) 363-0310.

The primary focus for the New Taipei students is to learn the curriculum of an American high school and to participate in after-school activities. They are expected to be integrated with the hosting school's students. New Taipei City will host Cincinnati students in October 2013 and those students will be hosted by Taiwanese families.
