A recent Courier-Journal article shows how using tasty vegetarian recipes can make the transition to vegetarianism easier. Quorn Foods responded to the article, saying that going vegetarian is much easier than people think.

On March 20, Quorn Foods responded to an article from the Courier-Journal on different strategies to use when transitioning to a meatless diet.
According to Courier Journal, people looking to convert to vegetarianism or who just want to eat healthier can take the gradual road to vegetarianism.
“You can make a gradual transition by choosing to go meatless one or two days a week,” said Michelle Eckhart, a Louisville dietitian and an employee wellness manager for KentuckyOne Health. She suggests starting with familiar dishes, such as pasta marinara and beans and rice.
“That’s usually an easier way to do it,” said Eckhart. “It doesn’t have to be anything crazy like ‘Oh, I’m going to start eating tofu five nights a week,’ right off the bat.”
The upsides of becoming a vegetarian include the fact that meatless diets that don’t contain a lot of processed foods tend to be naturally low in saturated and trans-fats, Eckhart commented to Courier Journal.
Eckhart emphasizes the economic advantages to converting to vegetarianism. “I can feed my family on a can of beans, a bunch of vegetables and some rice and save however much four chicken breasts cost,” said Eckhart, who’s been vegetarian for about 17 years.
Quorn Foods representative David Wilson added that staying healthy is the main reason many people switch in the first place. “The last thing you want to do when becoming a vegetarian is forget nutrition,” he said. Wilson added that when switching to a vegetarian diet, it becomes easy to forget about certain food groups. But there are plenty of tasty vegetarian recipes that make sure you are getting what your body needs to stay healthy.
“The road to healthy eating is easier than you think,” says Wilson. “To flip the switch and go completely meatless can seem impossible to most people accustomed to such a diet. If you think of the benefits of eating meals with Quorn foods, going meatless doesn’t seem bad at all.”
