After eight months and no answers, a Nashville family is desperate to catch their loved one's killer.
Dalia Gutierrez-Sanchez was fatally shot Aug. 24, 2012, outside her apartment along Wallace Road in south Nashville.
The 43-year-old mother of three was returning home from work at the Riverbend state prison when she was shot three times. The killer took her purse, and police said it appears robbery was the motive.
Investigators have grappled with this case with no positive leads, and now the victim's family has raised the stakes even more to help find the woman's killer.
The reward for information that leads to an arrest has now grown to $25,000.
"I love my mother with all my heart. I know she would do the same for me," said son Joshua Sanchez.
The course of the investigation has been a frustrating and heartbreaking time for Gutierrez-Sanchez's family. Joshua Sanchez has canvassed not only the south Nashville neighborhood near the shooting, but also surrounding areas with more than 10,000 posters, hoping to get a morsel of information that could lead to an arrest.
"We just need to get answers to get justice," he said.
Joshua Sanchez said he's tormented by the fact his mother's killer walks free.
"Every day, me and my family won't stop. It's very difficult to move forward not knowing who did it," he said.
The one thing his mother's death has done is bring this family together, but Joshua Sanchez said he can't move on until the killer is caught.
"All I got is my family. They are my strength, and I hope that one day we get that phone call," he said.
Late last year, police released a sketch of the man wanted in her murder.
The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, approximately 5'8" and 150 pounds. Investigators believe at the time of the murder, he wore tight-fitting blue jean shorts and a blue-green hooded sweatshirt with unkempt hair worn over to one side.
