A FAIRFIELD TEENAGER WALKING TO THE MOVIES WAS ATTACKED AND BEATEN TO DEATH BY A STRANGER.
INVESTIGATORS SAY IT WAS ANOTHER TEEN WHO KILLED HIM.
17 YEAR-OLD BRANDON MITCHELL WAS WALKING THROUGH A FIELD BEHIND AN APARTMENT COMPLEX ON DANUBE DRIVE IN FAIRFIELD WHEN HE WAS ATTACKED BY A STRANGER. THAT TEENAGER BEAT HIM WITH BARE HANDS. BY THE TIME POLICE ARRIVED, BRANDON'S HEAD INJURIES WERE ALREADY TOO SEVERE, AND HE DIED AT MERCY HOSPITAL.
HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS SAY HE WAS A SEVENTEEN YEAR-OLD AT FAIRFIELD HIGH SCHOOL WHO LOVED MOVIES, MOSTLY COMPUTERS, AND HAD A LOT OF FRIENDS.
"He was such a good kid. He loved everything and everybody. He would have done anything for his friends...The thing I'll do differently this time is pay closer attention. Love them even more. That way, when someone passes on you, you don't have the what-ifs. I think, what if I drove him to the movies? Because he and his friend were just going to the movies," says Brandon's mother, Kim Mitchell-Hilliard.
THE TEENAGED SUSPECT HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND IS BEING HELD AT THE BUTLER COUNTY JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER. POLICE SAY HE WILL BE CHARGED IN THIS DEATH.
