Cincinnati ranks for high tornado risk
Cincinnati has a new distinction to add to its list. The Queen City ranks 12th of 20 large cities in the US most vulnerable to tornadoes. A company that develops software to predict the threat of tornadoes says 65 have hit the area since 1950. Alabama-based VorTek also counted a 20-mile radius around the cities, which all have populations greater than 100-thousand. So the Cincinnati threat also applies to Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. The VorTek data shows April and June are the most tornado-prone months in Greater Cincinnati. The company also ranks states most prone to tornadoes. Ohio ranked 15th and Kentucky was 17th.
