Women's pro soccer team pulls 'feelin' thorny' shirts

Fans of Portland's new women's pro soccer league team will not be "feelin' thorny" this season.

That was a slogan the Portland Thorns, set to open the season on April 13 in the new National Women's Soccer League, put on shirts available for purchase by fans.

Not everyone thought it was appropriate.

A Facebook campaign hit the Internet on Thursday, saying the shirts are sexist. On Friday, the team decided to pull the shirts from store shelves and online sales.

The Thorns released a statement saying sales of the "feelin' thorny" shirts were discontinued Friday, but the club has plenty of other shirts available, along with other merchandise for the team's inaugural season.

The Facebook page rallying against the slogan has more than 100 likes, however it has also received numerous posts in opposition to the T-shirt protest.
