Archdiocese: Former pastor mismanaged $271,000 in church funds
A retired Cincinnati-area priest is being accused of mismanaging 271-thousand dollars in a church account. The Archdiocese of Cincinnati says its yearlong investigation found that the Reverend Thomas Axe spent some of that money on himself, but there's no indication he did it deliberately. Hamilton County Prosecutor Mike Allen says he'll review the investigation to determine if any crimes have occurred. Axe retired last year. He was pastor of the archdiocese's largest parish -- Good Shepherd in the Cincinnati suburb of Montgomery. The parish has more than four-thousand families and 12-thousand members. The 19-county Cincinnati archdiocese serves about 515-thousand Catholics in western and southwestern Ohio.
