(FOX19) - Kentucky's U.S. Senate race has one less potential candidate from Hollywood.
Actress Ashley Judd announced she will not run for the Democratic Senate nomination in Kentucky. She made the announcement via her Twitter account Wednesday evening.
@AshleyJudd: Regretfully, I am currently unable to consider a campaign for the Senate. I have spoken to so many Kentuckians over these last few months ~ who expressed their desire for a fighter for the people & new leader. While that won't be me at this time, I will continue to work ~ as hard as I can to ensure the needs of Kentucky families are met by returning this Senate seat to whom it rightfully belongs: the people & their needs, dreams, and great potential. Thanks for even considering me as that person & know how much I love our Commonwealth. Thank you!
Judd previously said she was "taking a closer look" at a run, as a contender in 2014 for the seat of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
During a recent visit to Cincinnati for the American Counseling Association's 2013 Conference, she even mentioned that her mom couldn't wait to turn her garage into a campaign headquarters.
Besides an extensive television and film career, she holds a master's degree in public administration from Harvard.
